We’re OPEN, come on in.

Finished off building the lab today and it’s rocking.

Setting up the Lab

Plexi-Glass walls are awesome
Did the staff meeting at 6pm and then went to the Welcome reception beach party.
We celebrated the finishing of the lab build with the final of The Lotusphere Limoncello Contest.

Limoncello Watch is over
So we started the day with an empty room.

Later in the day we have tables and laptops and some network being patched in.
45 laptops now have Ubuntu 8.10 on them and we are putting VMware Player on them too.
Tomorrow (Sunday) we will be adding the lab images and testing them.

Lab end of Saturday
As you can see we have a great spot in the “Product Showcase” and we have some great material too, so come find us, and find some great technology and ideas you can take straight back to your desk at work and use right away.
See you Monday. ;o)

Come join us in doing something fun and alternative. We are leading flashmobs loosely organized on collaboration and development of Lotus Software solutions. This is your chance to get Consultative Brainstorming with the experts. It’s a geeky discussion for the developers who need direction with Lotus Software.

Breakout Technology Award – NEW in 2009!
This Award will be presented to an IBM Business Partner who offers a solution that extends the software user experience by leveraging new technology innovations introduced into the IBM Lotus® and IBM WebSphere® Portal portfolio. These technologies must be new since Lotusphere® 2008, such as XPages, Live Text, Composite Application integration with the Sidebar, and the Portal Web 2.0 client. They provide IBM Business Partners and customers with the capability to integrate and blend heterogeneous applications and data in the context of the end user’s role, transforming solutions into a single seamless work environment that boosts end user and organizational effectiveness. Submissions for this Award should be solutions that leverage these new technologies to extend business application functionality based on contexts defined by end consumer requirements. Entries will be judged based on the overall business value they demonstrate, the extent to which these solutions leverage the technologies, and the ability to demonstrate how these enhancements boost end user and organizational effectiveness.

Please email Brittany Atkins with any questions you have.
I really can hear them hammering their bit of our lab into shape. They have all downloaded the VMware image that we created and are busy making it work for them.
One of the Notes guys is saying that he wants to use Gold code for his lab and it may make him miss the deadline we have set for his lab to be in. So we have cut him some slack and will make him load it onto his machines himself if he misses the extended deadline. ;o)
It sounds as though the crafting of the Quickr labs is in full swing as we had a virtual memory question come through just yesterday. That solved, work continues apace.
Staffing for the labs was discussed today and we have been making sure that we have the right number of people to cope with the crowds this year. Some of our lab rats are also elevated to the lofty heights of speaker for a few hours during the week. But don’t worry, we’ll be sure to bring back down to earth to make sure they are there to answer your questions for you.
Right back in the mines to look for more nuggets of wisdom we can share.
Cheif Elf, twice removed (for bad behaviour) ;o)
I have opened this blog up to the authors of the labs so that they can tell you what’s going on in their little bit of the lab.
Please interact with them and use this space as a place to understand more of what goes on to get this stuff ready for you and to ask questions. I would also recommend that you keep telling us what you want to see in each lab area.
Don’t forget to keep checking the DeveloperWorks site for more information as it becomes public about each lab.
So all the “official” stuff is going onto our DeveloperWorks page.
Check it out here.

We are writting up the descriptions of the labs and working on getting them to our NEW web page on IBM DeveloperWorks. This is the first time we have managed to get a space on there and we are very excited about being able to officially tell you what is going on with our lab.
I’ll continue to blog here a diary of what is happening on a regular basis and more often as we lead up to the Christmas holidays, which is our internal deadline for stuff to be complete in our team.
I can already tell you that some of the short descriptions are complete and will be posted soon, so as soon as they are, I will post the URL here.
121 days and counting….
